FLY TYING...ADVENTURES IN
FUR, FEATHERS AND FUN
bY John McKim's autographs are special as each includes a fly
drawing as part of his signature.
You'll notice the cover in the photo has dog ears. The guilty parties
here kept "taking it home for a look" before we could get the
picture. This wonderful book appeals at several levels. First, it takes
the easy road where possible. Second, the illustrations are world class.
Third, the flies illustrated actually catch fish.

Flyfishing
Magazine's review of the first edition -- it's now in its 7th! -- "John
McKim has illustrated the book with extremely clear step-by-step
illustrations of tying techniques, and he's added illustrations for
left-handed tiers. . . The explanation of feathers dry versus wet,
structure, markings etc. -- is easily understood and complete."
Editor's Note: If you know anyone left-handed who ties flies,
or wants to tie flies, this book is absolutely wonderful. Sure beats
trying to look at how-to graphics in a mirror for lefties. It also shows
why clear b&w sketches, if masterly done, beat color photography for
instructional purposes. Beginners find this the best "first
tie" book on the market. Tiers at all levels will find useful tips
and techniques that only come after a lifetime at the vise. A must!
